When police found out that a litter of puppies born in a storm drain had lost their mother, the officers were quick to come to their aid.
Realising the six four-day old pups, which were ten metres into a drain tunnel, had been orphaned, Meekatharra Police launched a rescue mission.
An officer crawled into the drain, which was just 60 centimetres by 40 centimetres, to reach the puppies before being pulled out by his colleagues using a strap tied around his ankle.
A spokesman for Western Australian Police said: "The puppies were born approximately 10m inside a storm drain. Officers were concerned if the puppies weren’t removed from the drain they would die of starvation and dehydration."
The moment was captured on a video posted to the force's Facebook page.
Senior Constable Hall, who has rescued more than 100 animals in the last year, is now caring for the pups, which need bottle feeding every four hours.
