The Duchess visited the Sayers Croft Trust Forest School and Wildlife Garden, a charity aimed at involving the local community and young people in the enjoyment and care of the environment.
After being greeted by the children with a warm group hug, Kate joined them in a hunt for “mini beasts” but only found slugs.
Kate revealed to the teachers that she often takes Prince George, five and Princess Charlotte, three on "spider hunts in the garden. They can spend hours out there" the Daily Mail reported.
Following the hunt, Kate sat down on a log with a group of students for story time, listening to a reading of the Monkey Queen before joining them to make crowns out of leafs.
Four-year-old, Anwaar, left the royal in a fit of giggles after she played with her cup and attempted to drink from it with no hands.
An onlooker told PEOPLE, “She was calm with the children.”
This was Kate’s first official Royal duty since the birth of youngest child Prince Louis, five months ago.
The Duchess looked relaxed and happy, sporting a shorter new hairdo and recycling a pair of Zara jeans and brown Penelope Chilvers boots that have been in her wardrobe for over ten years.
Kate’s next appearance is scheduled for the 9th of October when she will attend the Global Summit on Mental Health and Cultural change with her husband Prince William in London.
