As Ms Birds’ health deteriorated her granddaughter Pam Smith wanted to make sure her gran ticked off as many items as she could from her bucket list.
One thing she wanted to tick off was to get arrested.
‘Has never put a foot wrong all her life,’ Ms Smith spoke about her grandmother ‘wanted to do something ‘naughty’ while she still has the strength to enjoy it.’
The Guardian reported that a statement received by the Greater Manchester police revealed that her grandmother wanted to ‘be arrested and be taken to one of our police stations so she could experience what is was like to be on the wrong side of the law.’
Ms Smith later tweeted :
A big thank you to @gmpolice for "arresting" my Gran Josie today. She is 93 years old and her health is failing, and she wanted to be arrested for something before it's too late. She has a heart of gold and thoroughly enjoyed it today. Thank you for granting her wishes. pic.twitter.com/hi1qkJESwv

This isn't the only time the police force have helped complete a bucket list and the Greater Manchester police says they often get these requests.
